Garbage Service

Allied Waste provides garbage collection services in the Diablo View subdivision.  The all-inclusive rate for garbage, recycling and yard clippings collection depends on the size of your blue garbage cart. Garbage cart size options include 20, 32, 64 and 96 gallons.

Yard Waste Service

All residents receive a green 96-gallon yard waste cart.

Yard Waste Guidelines

  • Weeds and leaves.
  • Hay and Straw.
  • Prunings.
  • Tree Trimmings.
  • Tree branches 6 inches or less in diameter and 3 feet or less in length.
  • Plastic bags.
  • Rocks.
  • Concrete.
  • Sod and dirt.
  • Loose fruits and vegetables.
  • Large tree trunks and stumps and palm fronds.
  • Tree branches wider than 3 feet in length.
  • Pet waste.

Recycling Service

All residents receive a brown 64-gallon recycling cart. All recyclable materials are to be placed in the recycling cart.

Service Day

Garbage and recycling are collected on Thursday, unless the pickup day falls on Christmas or New Year's Day. If the collection day falls on one of these holidays, or later in the same week, pickup will be one day later. Yard clippings (the green cart) are collected on every second Thursday. Check the Website or the newsletter for the pickup dates. Place carts curbside or street side at least four (4) feet apart from each other with the wheels facing the curb. Leave the carts out the night before or by 5:30 a.m. of your collection day and leave at least 4 feet between the carts.

Billing Information

You will receive bi-monthly bills for your garbage, recycling and yard clippings services.  Due upon receipt, the bill is considered delinquent after the end of the billing month.

Payment Options

Customers have four options to pay their bills.

  1. Mail the payment using the envelope provided;
  2. Pay by MasterCard or VISA by calling customer service at 925-685-4711; or
  3. Pay in person by cash, check or credit card at 441 N. Buchanan Circle in Pacheco.  Automatic payment is not currently available.
  4. Pay by cash or check only (no credit cards) at Char's Flowers, 516 Main Street in Martinez. You must have a statement or your account number when paying your bill here.

Disabled Customers

Disabled customers with medical verification can receive on-property service of all three carts at no additional charge.  Please submit a doctor's note to Allied Waste with your request for disabled service.

Do's Don'ts
  • Place in recycling bin: Aluminum and tin cans, glass bottles and jars of all colors and plastic bottles only with the (1) PETE and (2) HDPE symbols.
  • Remove lids and flatten plastics.
  • Place newspapers in brown paper grocery bag or tie with cord. Do not use wire. Place newspaper and cardboard in bin.
  • Place your recycling bin and newspapers at the curb so they are clearly visible to collectors.
  • Place the bins curbside only when full and on your regular garbage pickup day.
  • Don't use wire to bundle newspapers.
  • Don't place window glass, mirrors, or cookware in the recycling bins.
  • Don't mix magazines, junk mail, phone books, or other paper with newspapers.
  • Don't place plastic grocery bags or film wrap in the recycling bin.
  • Don't mix chipboard (cereal boxes) with cardboard.

Hazardous Wastes

No hazardous wastes are allowed in garbage or yard waste carts. Household hazardous wastes such as motor oil and car batteries can be recycled curbside. Household batteries, fluorescent tubes, latex paint and anti-freeze may also be recycled at the Contra Costa County Household Waste Drop-off Center at 4797 Imhoff Place, Martinez.  Hours of operation.
